The Humble Petition of George Albert Woodcock Secretary to the Sanitary Board of the Colony of Hong Kong, temporarily discharging the duties of Deputy Registrar and Accountant of the Supreme Court of the said Colony.

Humbly Sheweth as follows:

1. Your Petitioner was appointed Assistant Master Queen's College and left England on March 15th 1890 arriving in the Colony on April 27th 1890.

2. On March 21st 1900 your Petitioner was appointed Acting Secretary to the Sanitary Board and on July 19th 1901 was confirmed in the said appointment.

3. On July 5th 1905 Your Petitioner was called to the Bar at Gray's Inn as a further qualification for employment other than scholastic.

4. On March 30th 1909 a letter from the Hong Kong Government was laid on the table of the Sanitary Board and published in the South China Morning Post of March 31st 1909 of which the following is an extract

"the duties of the Secretary to the Sanitary Board were no longer so responsible or arduous as they were when there was no separate Head of the Department... it was accordingly proposed to reduce the salary attached to the appointment".

5. Your Petitioner submits that in view of the limitation of duties accompanied by a reduction of salary the post of Secretary to the Sanitary Board as held by Your Petitioner...
